~My Remarks

• During watching this movie, I had the following two dominant impressions
  • One is positive that the story framework is great but the details are not worth a second thought
    • In general a good story
    • However, the ending makes me fell sad
      • Why not just let the old mother of the victim kill the raper
      • Why the lawyer and the police tried so hard to result in the situation where the old mother died and the reper's life gets saved
        • in order to bring the raper in to the frame of law and justice, they resulted the death of a relatively better old mother who just wanted revenge
      • The extra post-credits scene feels weird
        • I thought to show the kindness of the old mother but why on earth to put her to death and then add this last scene
  • The other is the movie is probably made in Hong Kong because of a bunch of doubts that I thought I may have a clue of why
    • Making the background non-P.R.China by using languages besides Chinese and things apperantly non-P.R.China in the story place
      • for using Twitter as social platform which is not allowed in P.R.China
      • for making it possible to release in P.R.China where important government officials cannot be bad guys and severe crimes are usually not allowed in stories (to avoid a bad image of Chinese sociaty)
• The movie is a piece of derived work after a Korean movie Seven Days (Korean: 세븐 데이즈)
  • But this information is not explicitly given in the movie
• This movie changed the ending of the original Korean movie
  • which, in my opinion, made the Chinese version of story much worth then the original version
• Verdict: Not really worth watching
  • Movie is also a reflection of a culture in a place - but 拯救嫌疑人 is not
  • But the original Korean movie is still worth recommending
